Autumn Skin – Seasonal Skin Care

The seasons are changing and it might be time to switch up your skincare. Change in the weather, increased use of central heating and after your sunny summer holidays, your skin might be feeling dull, tired and a little dry. It’s not all bad though!

Less time spent in the sun makes Autumn the perfect season for treatments like Chemical Peels & Microneedling.

At Home Changes:

EXFOLIATE: Adding in gentle exfoliation 2 – 3 times per week can help remove mature skin cells, keep pores clear and keep breakouts at bay. If you’re new to exfoliation, take it slowly. If you start to feel sensitive or experience redness/dryness, leave off the exfoliation and increase the barrier repair until your skin is back to normal. SkinCeuticals Cell Cycle Catalyst is a great gentle daily exfoliant, that you can use right up to treatments. I also love the Blemish and Age Toner and Equalizing Toner. Over the counter, Medik8 Press and Glow is a firm favourite, along with Press and Clear (a similar formulation but targeted to more breakout-prone skin)

HYDRATE: Switching up your moisturiser to something richer during the cold snap can help maintain a happy, healthy skin barrier. I love SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore, or PCA HydraBright or HA overnight mask. My over – the – counter go to products for barrier repair are Avene Tolerance Soothing Skin Recovery and La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume (not affiliated, I just love them and always have them in my skin rotation through winter!) Adding a facial oil once or twice a week, and hydrating mist throughout the day can also keep your skin hydrated and happy!

SPF: Just because the sun isn’t out, don’t skip your SPF. UV exposure is year – round, and SPF is a daily must, whatever the weather.

Treatments

Microneedling and Chemical Peels are some of my favourite treatments to treat acne, scarring, fine lines, crepey skin and hyperpigmentation. These treatments also boost collagen production, leaving your skin plump and healthy.

Both treatments require avoiding excess sun exposure, actives and vigorous exercise and swimming for at least 72 hours (I like to avoid until your skin has returned to normal. This makes autumn the perfect season to start getting ready for the festive party season! You will always get best results with a course of at least 3 treatments, and results take time – trust the process.
