About Me //

I qualified as a registered nurse in 2006. I have worked in gastroenterology and endoscopy for over 17 years, and became an advanced specialist nurse in 2015. I have been a nurse prescriber for 8 years. My role in the NHS has given me so many transferrable skills for my aesthetics practice, including history taking, assessment, managing clinical emergencies, anaphylaxis management and an in-depth understanding of anatomy, physiology, medications and interactions. I still work part - time in the NHS, and i truly adore my job.

In 2016 i started looking into having aesthetic treatments myself and realised what a minefield it was. I decided to become the practitioner that i was looking for myself. Someone who had safety and natural results as a priority. Over the last 7 years i have continued to increase my knowledge and the treatments that I offer, and became passionate about skin health and skin treatments about 5 years ago. I love being able to offer treatments that give you back your confidence and make you look and feel great. I pride myself in carrying out treatments that have people saying "you look great" but without being able to put their finger on why!

There is something I say in consultations all the time - I promise I’m not comparing my patients to old tents. It’s a metaphor - bear with me! It is so important to prioritise skin quality first before jumping straight into treatments like fillers or toxin. The reason is simple: once skin quality and laxity are improved, you often need much less structural support overall. My patients have probably heard this example a thousand times by now, but I’d still happily repeat it every time. Think of your face like a tent. ⛺️ Fillers and toxin are like the tent frame. What they do is they provide structure and support underneath the skin. But even if the frame is perfect, if the “cover” of the tent (your skin) is tired, loose, or dull, the overall result will never look quite right. I went to nursing school, not theatre school. (Although, to be fair, I do enjoy a little bit of drama now and then 🤪) Sometimes I find posting on social media easy, like when I’m doing the silly stuff. Sometimes I feel mortified at the sound of my own voice when I’m doing the serious stuff. But I do it anyway because staying connected with my patients and sharing helpful information matters more than my discomfort. And you all know I love a lip sync like no other! So whether it’s awkwardly sharing educational content and health tips, or doing a silly reel just for the giggles, just know I’m stepping way outside my comfort zone in the name of patient education (and entertainment) 😂
Obagi Blue Radiance is one of my go-to chemical peels for treating pigmentation, melasma and dark spots. However, it’s really important to assess the cause of pigmentation, and understand that this isn’t a surface level problem and it isn’t going to disappear with a single treatment. This is a common misconception I see in clinic. Your pigmentation didn’t happen overnight and it can’t be fixed overnight. Pigmentation management is a long-term journey as pigment sits at deeper depths within the skin and is heavily influenced by ongoing triggers. Chemical peels work on the more superficial layers of the skin, which is why consistency is key. To see and maintain results, they need to be combined with a committed at-home skincare routine, not replaced by it. Ingredients like tranexamic acid, alongside strict daily SPF, play a big role in long-term pigment management. Getting recommendations from patients is lovely, but when it’s your actual friends trusting you with their face too, that’s extra special. Maxine’s been coming to me for years now and I think what she said sums up my whole approach perfectly, natural always comes first.
